Raw Talent

It takes more than guts to pose like this guy in the middle of Nairobi - even if it is for TV. My guy, you will go far! Just make sure you have some clothes on first.

Bicycle Lanes

What happened to cycling lanes in Nairobi? All roads being resurfaced and built have total disregard for the greenest and most convenient mode of transport. Outside Kakamega, anyone know of any other Kenyan town with proper cycling lanes?

Utumishi kwa wote?

This cop stopped me for 'speeding' - driving at 109 on a 100kph road. I protested and said I knew the law that restricts speed on a single lane highway to 100kph and 110kph on a two lane highway. Surprised I knew the law, I was let go after a 15 minute delay to my journey back to Nairobi from Elementaita. Other motorists purchased their freedom.

More Creativity Desired

The leading media house in East Africa should have done better than this. The bar hasn't been raised - it hasn't even been touched.

TV stations used rainbow colours in the 70s because colour TVs were the rave; the ribbon thing is very 80s too - KTN used it at launch back in 89! The font and blue are very DStv. As for the tag line, remember: sell the benefits, not the feature.

The former logo was a bastardization of the CNN one. Seems the common phrase in both briefs is 'We want a logo like...'

The TV ad is a step away from cliche.

And one of the diseases they are yet to find a cure for is Chinglish.

Painting the perfect sign isn't as easy as looking at one.

You need a good set of brushes, metres of masking tape, paint in the right colour of paint and quantity, a pencil or two, tape measure or ruler, razor-sharp aesthetic balance, a cloth to wipe your dirty hands...

...and a dictionary.
